The Final Pivot

Welcome to my fifth blog post. Over the past week I had an epiphany. I have not been working on something that I am incredibly passionate about. While listening to everyone else in class talking about doing something they have never done before, I realized that I had to pivot my project. I am going to document and create both a steam page and a pitch deck. Both of these topics apply to a much larger group of people and will be a great asset to anyone who wants to create a game.
During the rest of this semester I am going to focus on creating documentation on both how to make a pitch deck as well as how to optimize and create a steam page. To start this process I have created an outline of a pitch deck that will be filled in throughout this upcoming week. I am going to create one version for Unsent, the project I am currently working on, and one commented version that can be used as reference for other developers. To complete this outline I spent a good amount of time reading pitch decks to get a better idea of what is required in them. I looked over some pitch deck templates as well to understand the documentation aspect of the process. I think I will take some inspiration and create a commented deck as well as a document on the side to overview the basics. The one part of the deck that I struggled with is the market analysis. Being able to access your games target audience and market can be difficult at times due to lack of resources and lack of relevant data. I am going to focus on documenting the market analysis process this upcoming week.
To summarize, I made a major decision and pivoted my project while also reducing scope. I am very happy with the position I am in and I hope to accomplish a lot in this upcoming week.
